I have a VERY vivid memory of my family having a backyard fireworks display...and it going wrong.  I was about 9 years old... and for some reason thought it was a good idea to light a firecracker and then throw it at my brother (for the record he was older & doing the same to me... )

All of this was happening within screaming distance of my parents... so when that firecracker went off in my hand... they heard my scream like I had lost my hand.

Luckily for me... it only blew some nasty cuts and burns into my hand.  I still have some faint scars... and a lesson I will never forget.

PLEASE listen to these simple tips for your family firework fun:

•Select a large, paved surface when possible

•Keep fireworks away from wooded and grassy areas

•Soak the launch site before and all spent products after

•Keep a ready source of water available

•Designate an adult to watch the trajectory, make sure no fires are started and douse any that are

•Don’t let children or minors handle fireworks

It's simple. Have fun, BE SAFE... and always know what is happening around you!  You can find more tips HERE
