Paula Deen has the #1 book in America (even though it doesn't come out til October) but that didn't stop her publisher, Ballantine Books from cancelling their contract with Paula Deen for several books, despite the fact that an upcoming cookbook that was part of the deal became the top seller via pre-orders on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com amid her current racial scandal. The publisher said it won't release Paula Deen's New Testament: 250 Favorite Recipes, All Lightened Up, which was scheduled to come out in October and be the first of a five-book deal. However, Deen's literary agency, Janis Donnaud, believes another company will step in, saying, "I am confident that these books will be published and that we will have a new publisher." Also on Friday, Sears and J.C. Penney became the latest companies to say they were ending their relationship with Deen, following similar announcements from Wal-Mart, Target, Home Depot, Smithfield Foods, Caesar's Entertainment and diabetes drug maker Novo Nordisk. The Food Network also said last week that they wouldn't be renewing Deen's contract.
Paula hasn't gotten much support since her deposition detailing her use of the N-word went public. She's lost partnership deals with Walmart, Target, and Home Depot and her job as a rep for the diabetes medication Novo Nordisk. Well it appears through all the adversity, Deen has a supporter in CNN's Pier Morgan. He recently tweeted, "Walmart dumped Paula Deen, but continued to sell AR-15 assault rifles after
