We meet in the ninth grade at Groves High. I was very nervous about asking him for his number, so I got my friend to get it and she did. So about a day or two later he called me, ever since then we have been dating. We have been together for 5 years on April 9, 2008. So when valentines day came, I thought well maybe this can be it so I waited, and waited and NOTHING :(. So then I thought to myself well maybe on my birthday or on our anniversary. Well, come to find out it was a week before Spring Break. We went to Orlando, Florida like we do every Spring Break and I thought this has GOT to be it. Day one of the trip ( nothing) Day 2 of the trip (nothing) so I gave up on the third day!
Well it was on Easter Sunday that we came one. By not my hopes have given up. After we got home from the trip I took him back home and a couple minutes later he asked me if I want to go out so I said sure. So we went down to River Street, he bought me ice cream and we walked up and down River Street by the water. So about the time we were taking pictures and the sun was setting. Then I seen this square item in his pocket and I thought you myself " is that what I think it is?" and a few seconds letter later he gets on one knee and asked me!!! I said yes and I was speechless and crying at the same time.

Glenn and I planned to go the Las Vegas with my cousin and his wife the month after I turned 21. We had talked about taking a tour of the Grand Canyon, but it was very expensive, so I really didn’t push it. The 2nd day we were there, Kristy, my cousins wife, asked if I was excited about our tour, and I was like what are you talking about? So Glenn then told me we were going on a helicopter to the bottom of the Grand Canyon! I was so excited! So the next morning, we take this breath-taking ride out.
We land in the bottom and I want to walk around and take it in because we only have 20 minutes, well Glenn is practically dragging my down near the river. We stop and he starts pulling a box out of the camera bag, and takes my hands, got on one knee and asked if I would spend the rest of my life with him! I of course said yes! The pilot had champagne for us and everything! Glenn had asked my Dad the week before and he had told my Mom the night before what Glenn was to do! She had been riding around for 3 hours waiting on my phone call!! It was wonderful! I was so surprised!

Brian and I had met at work although he only worked there a month. A few weeks after he quit, I somehow ended up on the phone with him and ended-up asking him out not wanting to take a chance at never seeing him again. So, we went on our first date and ended up on Johnson Square where I thought he was going to lay a very romantic first kiss on me while we were sitting next to the fountain… NOT! A year later, we’re still dating and having dinner with my best friend but needed to cross the same square to go by the ATM machine.
As soon as he passed by that almost-fateful fountain, he dropped to one knee to propose. I was obviously stunned and speechless. When I finally said yes and hugged him, I noticed that my dad and his wife (from Raleigh, NC) were standing on one corner of the park. On the other corner, my mom (from Macon, GA) and my grandfather (from France) were standing on the other corner. Brian knew my family meant more to me than anything and somehow, he managed to bring all of them to witness this very special moment and help me celebrate. After that day, Brian made me promise to stop referring to Johnson Square as the place where we almost had our first kiss.

My boyfriend told me that we were going to Myrtle Beach for his father’s wedding. We got their on Friday and went out to dinner with his parents. We got back to the condo and he asked me if I wanted to go sit on the beach. It was very warm outside so I said yes. We packed a cooler with some drinks, grabbed a blanket and proceeded to walk to the beach. As we neared the sand we saw his parents coming up from taking their walk on the beach. I noticed that he was whispering something in both of their ears and watched as he hugged both of them. I was thinking, “why in the world is he hugging them, we just went out to dinner with them” and didn’t think too much more about it. We got to a spot near some people that were shooting off fireworks and laid out our blanket to sit on. I was amazed by the fireworks as I had never seen fireworks done on the beach before. They were lighting up the sky and it was very romantic.
Jason asked me if I would get him a drink from the cooler and when I opened the cooler a little tiny box was sitting on top of the ice. My mouth dropped open and I just stared into the cooler. It hit me, that loud screaming voice saying “GIRL, OPEN THE BOX!”. I reached in, grabbed the box and opened it upside down as that is the way the box looks like it should open. Thank the Lord it didn’t fall out into the sand. I took it out of the box and stared at the ring then stared at Jason. I always thought I would cry in this moment, but all I did was laugh, and this wasn’t a sweet laugh, it was a loud, obnoxious laugh. He then grabbed it from me and slid it on my finger, got down on both knees in the sand and said “Carley, will you be my wife?” The rest is history!

The year 2006 was a pretty difficult year for me and my family. My parents had decided that after a 23 ½ year marriage, they were going to call it quits. I knew that Christmas 2006 would be the most difficult year to date since it would be the last Christmas that my whole family would be together and the last Christmas in the house I basically grew up in. Adam knew it was going to be rough on me so he decided that he would make it special for me.
Every Christmas that we have spent together, he starts to get anxious around Christmas time. He continuously asks me “can I give you one of your presents now!?” and I say no because it’s still a week or two away. As Christmas day grows near, I can tell his nerves were shot and he kept saying “please can I give you your present.” I just refused. I knew that Christmas Day was going to be a crazy one with my family going up to his family’s house so I told him that I wanted to exchange gifts on Christmas Eve at my parent’s house. I really wasn’t expecting anything big (I had asked for a nice pair of earrings so I thought that’s what I was getting). Christmas Eve day rolls around and I’m waiting on him to get to my house. He walks in my room and we close the door so it was just us and I tell him to go first since his box of goodies was pretty big and there were plenty of items for him to look through. My gift was rectangular and medium sized. I was stumped at what it might could be. I finally opened my present and it was a jewelry cleaner. I looked up and was like “Thanks…” since I really didn’t own too much jewelry and I hadn’t mentioned having one. He went on and told me to open it so he could see how it works and make sure everything was in there. The box looked untouched/ unopened to me so I got into it and he said “Open it up.” Inside the Jewelry cleaner was a red jewelry box. I was shocked at that point just because I didn’t realize it had been opened up already. My immediate thought was “oooo, it’s a pair of earrings that I asked for”. When I opened it up, there sat the most beautiful ring I could ever imagine. I just stared at it for a while and then looked up and said “Are you serious?” At that time, I was choked up and I saw Adam get down on one knee beside my bed (with a tear in his eye) and he asked “Jennifer, Will you marry me?” I said yes of course and I put it on. I was totally in shock.
After that, we walked right past my parents and got into his truck and headed on to O’Charleys. When we got back to my house, I calmly went up to my mom and just showed her the ring. She was like “Adam, you were suppose to wait till tomorrow!” I was shocked that she knew, but I later found out that he did ask for my family as well as his family’s blessing.

It was our 3 year anniversary, 12/10/07. He had put a dozen roses in vases, dimmed the lights, and lit candles on the kitchen table. I was really impressed and thought that was my anniversary present.
He then asked if I wanted to go ahead and turn on all the Christmas lights outside. After turning on the lights downstairs we walked upstairs to turn the lights on upstairs. I noticed that there was a new extension cord and asked what happened to the lights and was told that the cord broke so he had to get a new one. I blew it off and then proceeded to plug in the lights. When the lights didn't work I started telling him that the cord he bought was broken. Of course he knew that it wasn't and kept telling me to try again. After about the 5th time of trying I stood up and told him that he should do it because apparently I couldn't get them to work. When I stood up, I caught a glimpse of lights downstairs in the yard.
It took a second to hit me and then I realized that they spelled out Marry Me. Then I turned and looked at him and he was holding a beautiful diamond ring.

It was the day before Thanksgiving (which also happened to be my Birthday). I was on call to work that day and I had to go out when I got called in. I kissed Monty goodbye and told him I was supposed to get off that evening around 6:00 pm. It was nearing 5:45 and Monty must have called me at least ten times asking if I was on the way home. By the 10th call I said “Baby I will call you as soon as I get in the car and head that way".
I got in the car around 6 and gave him a call. He was short and said alright. I get home and he is on the sofa. He asked me to go out in the back yard. Then he asked what I wanted to eat for supper. I was thinking "Huh, this is WEIRD!!" Then he looks at the grill and sits down... I sat down too. The next thing I know he was talking about how he was sitting outside earlier and he was thinking about how we love to grill. He then said he was thinking about who he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. He got shaky and then got down on one knee. Behind his checkbook and wallet.... there was a ring box. He pulled it out and asked me to marry him and spend the rest of my life grilling with him. Of course I said yes!!!

We were in our hometown Beaufort, SC and were camping at the beach with family. I had gotten there a day before her. So the morning before she was to arrive I went down to the beach and carved my proposal in the sand. So when she arrived I asked her if she wanted to go for a walk and we went for one on the beach and as we approached it I told her to close her eyes because I had a surprise. Naturally she thought I was going to mess with her or something. When she opened her eyes I was on my knee with the ring in front of the message and she instantly burst into tears saying YES!!

My fiancé and I got engaged on November 7, 2007. Nick and I were going on a picnic in Finley Park. This was not unusual because he and I are the picnic kind of people. The week before we had talked about not getting engaged until we found out if he got into medical school or not, so I thought that this was going to be a "normal" picnic. He and I stopped at a clearing near the playground and ate our food, talking and watching the kids play. We then packed up our things and headed toward the car.
When we got to the part of the park where the waterfall is (the kind you can walk under); Nick stopped and asked if we could sit down. We put our things down and we sat on a bench. Nick was sitting off of the back of the bench in an awkward position. I told him he looked funny, so he said, "Well, we will stand up." We stood up and walked toward the spot where the waterfall was supposed to be (it wasn't turned on). We walked on those stepping stones, and I couldn't get my balance. He then pulls me towards him and hugs me. Then Nick started talking to me about important dates in our lives, the day we first met back in college and the day his father passed away. He then started to cry and said, "Well, this is the day where I tell you I want to be with you the rest of my life." He then pulls out this gorgeous ring from his pocket, gets down on one knee, and asks me to marry him.
I was shocked! We had just talked about not getting engaged! He then puts the ring on my finger, and of course I said yes. We are getting married in July and I am so excited! :)
